For the past 20 years, Tom Stringer Design Partners has quietly created dream havens for some of America’s most prestigious families.
Every Tom Stringer project is unique in character and a reflection of the interests and desires of his clients. A world traveler and inveterate shopper, Stringer is a master at incorporating antiques, contemporary furniture, and ethnographic elements with equal ease. By combining classical and modern elements, he composes sanctuaries that possess a timeless feeling.
His overriding priority is comfort. “The ultimate litmus test for any interior I create is: Yes, it’s beautiful, but will the client be comfortable in blue jeans, sipping a glass of wine. We all want elegance, but ultimately we want to live in comfort.”
Tom Stringer and his sense of style, keen eye, and thoughtfulness allow him to design refined, elegant, and comfortable spaces that reflect—and honor—the unique sensibility of each client. It is his attention to detail, his prescience in knowing how people want to live, and his sense of humor, which has earned Stringer a loyal coterie of clients from coast to coast.
His accolades go beyond client praise. Stringer has been a part of House Beautiful’s Top 100 Interior Designers since 2003, and he has created show house interiors for both House Beautiful and Traditional Home. Stringer has been honored by the World Superyacht Society for his work on the interiors of the motor yacht Kelsey Lee, and again for the interiors of the mega yacht slojo. Tom has also designed the award-winning restaurant Alinea for the highly acclaimed chef, Grant Achatz, which was named Best Restaurant in America by Food and Wine magazine in 2008.
The firm’s design work is often featured in premiere publications including House Beautiful, Traditional Home, Shelter, Florida Design, Architecture and Design, California Home and Luxe Magazine; It’s restaurant interiors have been featured in Gourmet, Food and Wine, and Shelter, and it’s yacht interiors have been featured in Yachts International, Boat International, and Showboats Magazine among others.
In the past three years, the firm has received eight design excellence awards from the American Society of Interior Designers. Stringer was inducted into the inaugural Merchandise Mart Hall of Fame for Interior Design in 2015.
