Episode 443: Angela Harris

Angela Harris and her company TRIO Environments is one of the most highly-regarded, fastest growing interior design and visual merchandising firms in the nation. The company is tracking to be an international leader in creative, market-driven design in less than a decade. Principal and Creative Director, Angela Harris never imagined the degree of success TRIO would have when she founded the company in 1999 on the simple premise of providing pure authenticity in design.

The company began with a leap of faith. After earning a B.S. in Marketing and Management from the University of Colorado, Boulder (1998), Angela Harris went to work at an engineering firm, where she felt she wasn’t living up to her true potential. Dropping everything to pursue her dream career of interior design, Angela enrolled in a professional interior design program and spent her last $500 on business cards, direct mail, and other startup costs to launch TRIO Environments.

Today, the company has over 20 employees and manages more than 76 projects at any given time, both locally and nationally. TRIO Environments has helped to sell more than 21,500 homes and generated over $7 billion in revenue for commercial and residential Clients. Angela has earned a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Design from Philadelphia University, sits on the Denver Homebuilders Association Board of Directors, manages seven Councils through the HBA, and sits on the Sales & Marketing Council for the National Association of Homebuilders.

To give the company a competitive edge, Angela Harris developed a three-part process that assesses a client’s current baseline value through their design program, introduces target market design principles, and finally executes a design that’s innovative, attractive, and profitable. Fusing this market-driven approach with a passion for creating beautiful spaces, Angela believed TRIO could deliver better design, at a lower cost, in a shorter time frame, with better merchandise. Time has proven her right.
