Meredith Ellis is an Austin based interior designer known for classic, timeless interiors rooted in tradition, with a modern sensibility.   Meredith was recently honored by Traditional Home magazine, being selected as one of the 10 most notable up-and-coming designers in the country.


Before starting her own business in 2008, Meredith spent over 10 years honing her skills under the renowned Bunny Williams in New York City, Thomas Beeton in Los Angeles, and famed White House designer Michael Smith. Meredith understands the important role a home plays in a family’s life. A mother of two young children, Meredith works closely with each client combining beauty and functionality to achieve a home’s full potential. In true Southern tradition, Meredith skillfully layers’ materials, patterns, textures, and colors, always making sure a home feels livable and stylish, never trendy or contrived.


In July 2015 Meredith launched JAMES Showroom in Austin, bringing dozens of well-respected lines of fabric, wallpaper, furniture, lighting, and carpets to Texas for the first time, including such well-known names like Sister Parish, Pintura Studio, Ferrick Mason, Jennifer Shorto, Tulu Textiles, Walter•G, Coleen & Company, Elson & Company and many others. JAMES is quickly becoming an invaluable resource for Texas designers looking for new inspiration and ways to customize their projects.


Meredith currently maintains projects In Los Angeles, Dallas, Austin, and the Texas Hill Country.  Meredith has been featured in several online and print publications including Architectural Digest, Better Homes and Gardens, Luxe, Modern Luxury Interiors Texas, Austin Monthly, Austin Way, and the Los Angeles Times,  In April,  2015, Meredith was one of 13 Interior Designers selected nationally to participate in the Second Annual Sotheby’s Designer Showhouse in New York City.
