Bonnie Steves is the founding principal of BJS-Assoc Interior Design, which she launched in 2009. Her design work has been shown from coast to coast throughout the United States, and in Mexico. Steves is known for creating modern living spaces for her clients, with a gentle nod to classicism. The client’s lifestyle needs are always at the forefront of her designs, as Bonnie Steves seamlessly marries the need for sophisticated entertainment spaces with a desire for more casual everyday family living. Bonnie Steves’ design mantra is, “You don’t have to follow all the rules and some were definitely made to be broken!”
Ms. Steves’ experience is diverse, having crossed many disciplines, while being geared to the worlds of marketing, special events, and design. Prior to founding BJS-Assoc Interior Design, she had been responsible for creating and implementing groundbreaking special events and marketing projects from concept through execution, sales initiatives, product launches, and retail “incentive” programs. In each case, her client priority was to ensure that the specific project was brought to completion on time, within budget and with every detail guaranteed to be implemented with flawless perfection.
After a successful career in special events and marketing for luxury brands including Nissan, Giorgio, The Young President’s Organization and The City of Beverly Hills, to name a few, Bonnie Steves had a burning desire to take her passion for design, and her innate ability for project management, and put it to good use in assuming the role of managing director at LL Designs, an interior design firm based in New York City and founded by noted designer Larry Laslo. At LL Designs her responsibilities included interfacing with clients, working with architecture and construction teams, as well as overseeing every aspect of product development.
Having worked with a number of major corporations throughout her professional life, Steves has developed a solid business base, in addition to the fast-pace survivor skills necessary to manage and run her own design firm. Her remarkable eye for detail makes each room she designs unique. As Bonnie Steves quotes from Elle Decor — “A truly elegant space doesn’t just delight the eye; it puts you at ease. Neither shocking nor showy, the most stylish rooms invite you in, revealing their beauty slowly. Details emerge, colors make their presence felt, and you become immersed in a world as fascinating as it is comfortable.”
Ms. Steves participates regularly in charitable giving. She was one of a handful of selected designers given the opportunity to design a permanent bedroom/bathroom for Ronald McDonald House of Long Island – Project Design 2014. She has also been a featured designer in the prominent Kips Bay Boys & Girls Decorator Show House. Creating “The Birthday Room” for Holiday House NYC, a designer showcase raising awareness and money for important breast cancer initiatives.
